T20 World Cup 2022 Coaches: The Coaching And Support Staff For All 16 Teams

The 2022 T20 World Cup kicked off in Australia this week – here’s a list of the coaches and support staff for all 16 teams.

The 2022 T20 World Cup is finally underway, with Namibia pulling off a shock victory over Sri Lanka in the first match of the group stage. The Super 12 stage of the tournament will begin on Saturday 22 October, with two teams from each group joining the already qualified sides.

There are some high profile names among the coaching staff for each squad, with plenty of former international players offering their experience to guide their players through the competition. Several teams have brought in experienced mentors exclusively for the tournament, as well as legendary former players in specialised coaching capacities. Each side has now finalised their squad and coaches for their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign.

T20 World Cup 2022 coaches: The coaching and support staff for all 16 teams

Australia

After his appointment earlier this year, Andrew McDonald has a huge assignment for his first global tournament at the helm with his side going into the tournament on home soil as defending champions. He has brought New Zealand legend Daniel Vettori on board alongside Michael Di Venuto for the tournament.

Assistant Coaches: Daniel Vettori, Andre Borovec

Batting Coach: Michael Di Venuto

Afghanistan

Ex-England top order batter Jonathan Trott will head-up Afghanistan’s campaign He was appointed interim head coach for the side after Graham Thorpe was unable to take up the role due to illness. Trott has included ex-Pakistan pacer Umar Gul in his coaching staff as well as former Afghanistan international Raees Ahmadzai.

Batting Coach: Nawroz Mangal

Bowling Coach: Umar Gul

Fielding Coach: Ryan Maron

Bangladesh

Sridharan Sriram has been appointed as technical consultant in charge of Bangladesh during this year’s tournament, with Russell Domingo remaining in charge of the side for Test matches and ODIs. Famous faces fill the specialist coaching positions, with Allan Donald, Rangana Herath and Shane McDermott all featuring in the set-up.

Batting Coach: Jamie Siddons

Bowling Coach: Allan Donald

Spin Bowling Coach: Rangana Herath

Fielding Coach: Shane McDermott

England

The first major assignment for the Matthew Mott-Jos Buttler era will be aided by Australians Mike Hussey and David Saker. Saker returns to the England set-up having previously been bowling coach under Andy Flower’s tenure as head coach.

Assistant Coaches: Richard Dawson, Carl Hopkinson

Coaching Consultants: Mike Hussey, David Saker

India

Legendary batter Rahul Dravid will be hoping to take India to a first T20 World Cup Trophy since 2007. India come off the back of a convincing series victory over South Africa ahead of their warm-up matches in Australia.

Bowling Coach: Paras Mhambrey

Fielding Coach: T Dilip

New Zealand

Gary Stead has put together a coaching team with extensive limited overs experience to help New Zealand go one step better from their runners-up medal last time out. Luke Wright and Luke Ronchi have positions as assistant coach and batting coach respectively.

Batting Coaches: Luke Ronchi, Dean Brownlie

Bowling Coaches: Shane Jurgensen, Graeme Aldridge

Pakistan

Matthew Hayden will be mentor to Pakistan throughout the tournament. The aggressive ex-Australia batter will join compatriot Shaun Tait in the set-up under Saqlain Mushtaq’s leadership. Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf will also feature as batting coach.

Bowling Coach: Shaun Tait

Fielding Coach: Abdul Majeed

South Africa

Head Coach Mark Boucher will hope to lead South Africa to their first T20 World Cup title. He has some tough selection decisions on his hands with the form of captain Temba Bavuma an ongoing worry.

Bowling Coach: Charl Langeveldt

Fielding Coach: Justin Ontong

Ireland

Ireland’s bid to reach the Super 12 stage of the tournament will be led by Heinrich Malan, who has brought in two former Ireland internationals as batting and pace bowling coaches. Former Australian spinner Nathan Hauritz will be contributing his expertise to the Ireland spinners.

Batting and Wicket Keeping Coach: Gary Wilson

Pace Bowling Coach: Ryan Eagleson

Spin Bowling Coach: Nathan Hauritz

Namibia

After their shock victory over Sri Lanka in the opening match of the group stage, Namibia could be set for a surprise appearance in the Super 12s.

Head Coach: Pierre du Bruyn

Assistant Coach: Richard das Neves

Netherlands

Former Australia all-rounder Dan Christian joins the Netherlands staff as a consultant under Ryan Cook’s leadership as head coach. South Africa’s Gary Kirsten will feature as the side’s batting coach.

Batting Consultant: Gary Kirsten

Consultant: Dan Christian

Scotland

Shane Burger’s side are hoping to repeat last year’s stunning result, qualifying for the Super 12s for the first time. They come into the tournament with Richie Berrington having taken over as captain after Kyle Coetzer’s retirement after the previous tournament.

Assistant and Fast Bowling Coach: Craig Wright

Sri Lanka

After a disastrous spell as England’s Test coach, Chris Silverwood has taken on the role for Sri Lanka. He has some fabulous pedigree on his staff, with Mahela Jayawardene and Lasith Malinga both taking up positions as coaches.

Consultant Coach: Mahela Jayawardene

Spin Bowling Coach: Piyal Wijetunge

Fast Bowling Coach: Lasith Malinga

Fielding Coach: Anton Roux

United Arab Emirates

The UAE have a tough challenge ahead of them to get out of the group stage of the tournament. Their head coach, Robin Singh, will be hoping the side can qualify for the Super 12 for the first time.

West Indies

The West Indies find themselves having to qualify through the first round for this tournament, despite being the only side to have won the trophy twice. Phil Simmons will be hoping his side can repeat their success from 2012 and 2016 to pull off what would be a remarkable result.

Batting Coach: Monty Desai

Bowling Coach: Roddy Estwick

Fielding Coach: Rayon Griffith

Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe come into the tournament on good from, having breezed through the qualifiers. They claimed a series win over Bangladesh earlier in the year and head coach David Houghton will be hoping his side can keep the momentum up through the group stage.
