Watch: Arjun Tendulkar, the son of Sachin Tendulkar, claimed an excellent four-wicket haul for Goa in India’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, nailing his bouncers and yorkers.
The left-armer, highly rated and on the books at Mumbai Indians, finished with figures of 4-10 from his four overs, with the other 16 overs in the innings costing more than 10 runs an over.
Taking the new ball, Arjun begun well, conceding just a single from his first over, and his spell got even better, with his second over a wicket maiden. Hyderabad’s Prateek Reddy attempted to pull a short ball, but could only find mid on.
It was not until the death that Arjun was reintroduced, by which time Hyderabad had recovered, making their way to 139-2 after 16 overs. Arjun helped Goa hit back, taking two wickets and conceding just five runs off the bat in the 17th. Rahul Buddhi also fell to the short ball, and Ravi Teja was pinned lbw by an excellent yorker.
It was another yorker that accounted for Tilak Verma, the prize wicket of the innings. The Mumbai Indians and former India U19 star attempted to sweep against his IPL teammate, only for Arjun’s yorker to sneak under the bat and strike him in front.
That wicket saw Verma dismissed for 62, extending a streak of SMAT half-centuries to four. Arjun closed out well, conceding four singles from his remaining five balls.
Despite Arjun’s excellence, Hyderabad posted a matchwinning 177-6. Goa managed only 140 in reply.
