Teams have been gearing up for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which is slated to be played from October 5, in India. Hence, various teams have already announced their probable squads keeping in mind the directives attached to the mega event. In the same vein, England too announced their probable side who will travel to India in a bid to defend their title. To everyone’s surprise, some unexpected yet harsh decisions were taken by England Cricket Board (ECB).
While some batters were disappointed by not making the cut, there was one big player in the form of Jofra Archer who missed out on the World Cup squad, which left many fans baffled given the impact the pacer can create if he manages to get fit in the later stages of the mega event. However, Gus Atkinson, who has similar bowling traits to Archer, was given a spot in the team.
Despite the snub, the Barbados-based pacer has been preparing his comeback by performing various interesting drills. In one of the most unusual sights of Jofra Archer‘s bowling, the pacer was seen bowling by his left hand instead of his usual right-arm express. In the video, the pacer can be seen having an indoor net practice, whereby Archer can be seen steaming in with the ball in his left hand instead of his usual right-hand bowling.

Despite not bowling through his natural bowling arm, Jofra Archer astonishingly managed to deliver a length ball to perfection to the batting facing him in the nets.
Jofra Archer expected to fly with England team to India
For the unversed, England pacer Jofra Archer has been out of action for most of the time from last year due to a severe elbow injury. The magnitude of his injury was such that even after going under the knife earlier this year and having played in SA 20 and an ODI series against South Africa followed by a short stay in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Archer got ruled out after his injury resurfaced. Consequently, Archer made a significant contribution for England in lifting the 2019 World Cup.
Interestingly enough, the ECB have decided to allow Archer to travel with England to India for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, in the hope that he may be used as a replacement in case of any sudden injury sustained by pacers during the grand event.
